It’s official. North Carolina Central University is terminating Eagle Head Football Coach Henry Frazier III. Dwayne Foster, assistant head football coach, will serve as interim head football coach. The university says that Coach Frazier’s issues have “caused the university to shift its focus from the priorities of student-athletes, the Athletics Department and the university.”
Frazier was arrested Monday and released the same day on $5,000 bail after being charged with violating a domestic violence protective order. Soon after, NCCU suspended Frazier with pay.
Frazier’s firing comes a little over a week before the Eagle’s are scheduled to play in the “Bull City Gridiron Classic” against the Duke University Blue Devils on August 31, 2013 at Dukes’ Wallace Wade Stadium.
A news conference will be held at 4 p.m. today, August 22, in the Emma Marable Conference Room of the William Jones Building.
