The Final 30

When I started my weight-loss journey in January 2010 I would have never thought I would actually make it this far. As of March 1, 2013 I am 269. My goal is 250 pounds. Currently I am 19 pounds away from my goal and since starting my journey I’ve lost 130 pounds.

The Journey Begins

My journey started after a visit to the doctors office in 2010. He said that I needed to make some changes in my life. During that visit he also mentioned that I had high blood pressure and prescribed pills to help regulate it. I hated any type of medication but I realized that high blood pressure could lead to other health issues. From that point on I began to change my diet and increase the amount of exercise I was doing. The subtle changes worked. From 2010 to June of 2012 I lost 52 pounds dropping from 399 to 347.

The Second Leg Of My Weight-Loss Journey

In June 2012 I was asked to join MediFast Weight Control Centers. The arrangement was made through my job at Radio One Raleigh and The Light 103.9FM. The deal was that I would work the program and talk about it on the air during The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.

On June 17th I weighed in at 347. My blood pressure was a bit on the high side but not as bad as it had been in the past. My counselor Nicole took photos and explained the program to me; It’s was all a little overwhelming. I didn’t want to start something as huge as this and not finish it.

About 2 weeks after joining MediFast I starting working out at the YMCA Downtown (Durham, NC). From that point on the weight-loss really began to show. Because of my hard work at the YMCA, I was asked to speak about the organization on the radio during the month of January.

Over the next 7 Months I began to see an amazing transformation. My clothes began to get looser. I had more energy and could do more for longer periods of time. My co-workers and friends started to comment about the changes that they were seeing. I couldn’t believe that it has actually happening.

The Final 30

In December 2012 I started doing a V-log (video blog) called “The Final 30.” “The Final 30” allows me to talk openly about some of the issues surrounding my weight-loss experience.

The Future

It’s been 8 months since joining MediFast and kicking off the second part of my weight-loss journey. I feel great! With MediFast I’ve lost 78 pounds. I started off with a 54 waist and now I’m able to wear a 42. My shirt size went from a 4XL to a XL. I am really excited and looking forward to achieving my goals.

Weigh-Loss In Action

Below are a few photos from my weight-lose journey. The collection gets bigger and bigger as the weeks and months go by. Check out a few and let me know what you think. Feel free to comment.
